Rapid self-test for an underactive thyroid
The THYRO-Check Swiss Point of Care is a high-quality immunochromatographic self-test for the detection of elevated levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) in blood from a finger prick. An elevated TSH level may indicate reduced thyroid function, also known as hypothyroidism.

Possible symptoms of hypothyroidism
An underactive thyroid can cause various symptoms. Possible symptoms include tiredness, listlessness, weight gain, dry skin, brittle hair, forgetfulness, low mood, sensitivity to the cold, constipation and an irregular menstrual cycle.

These symptoms may also have other causes. The THYRO-Check therefore only provides an initial indication and is not a substitute for a medical diagnosis.

How does the test work?
TSH is produced by the pituitary gland and regulates the activity of the thyroid gland. If the thyroid gland does not produce enough hormones, the TSH level may rise. The THYRO-Check detects an elevated TSH level using a small amount of capillary whole blood from the fingertip.
