Natural silk for surgical sutures
Sofsilk silk sutures are surgical sutures made from natural protein-containing silk fibres, known as fibroin. This silk is derived from the domesticated silkworm, Bombyx mori.

Braided and coated for ease of use
During production, the silk fibres are treated to remove the naturally occurring sericin gum. The fibres are then braided to form Sofsilk surgical silk sutures. The sutures are available with an even coating of silicone or 100% beeswax, which contributes to smooth handling and secure knotting.

Use in soft tissue
Sofsilk suture is intended for use in general approximation of wound edges and/or ligation of soft tissue. The suture is non-absorbable, providing long-term support for as long as clinically required.
