How should the flexible cuffs be used?
On delivery, the cuff will already be ready to use. The Velcro will be on the outside and the metal bracket will not touch your arm. Should the end of the cuff have come loose from the metal bracket, you can easily repair it yourself. Make sure the smooth side of the cuff is on the inside of the loop.
- Make sure there is no tight-fitting or thick clothing around your upper arm.
- Sit upright on a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Place your arm on the table so that the cuff is at the same height as your heart.
- Put your left arm through the loop of the cuff. The bottom of the cuff should be about 1-2 cm (the thickness of your index or middle finger) above your elbow. Make sure the tube runs midway above the forearm, to your middle finger. Place your hand on the table with the palm open upwards.
- Pull on the end of the cuff so that it fits snugly around the arm at the top and bottom.
- Close the Velcro firmly, but not too tightly. The cuff is snug when you can effortlessly insert two fingers between the cuff and your arm. This space is definitely needed for a good measurement.
- Relax your arm.
- Make sure there is no kink in the air hose and be careful not to rest your arm on the hose while measuring your blood pressure.
- Press the ""O/I START"" or ""START"" key - depending on the type - to start blood pressure measurement.
