The Optometric Reading Card was invented by Ferdinand Monoyer. This eye test is widely used in ophthalmology and medical practice, to measure visual acuity from a distance by reading directly from a distance of 3 metres.Based on the principle of the Snellen scale, Monoyer's optometric scale has 10 lines of capital letters of increasing size. Each line corresponds to 1/10 of visual acuity. The typography and graphic representation of the letters on the wall test prevent confusion between letters of similar shapes.
