Monocryl Suture Ethicon

Vicryl, Vicryl Rapide, Ethilon, Vicryl Plus, Mersilk, Prolene, Mersilene, EthibondMonocryl is a sterile, synthetic, resorbable monofilament suture manufactured from a copolymer of glycolide and e-caprolactone. The Ethicon suture exists in both coated and uncoated versions to improve visibility in surgery. Monocryl is available in different thicknesses and lengths, without needles or attached to a needle of different types and sizes. The needles can be permanently attached or as CONTROL RELEASE, allowing the needles to be pulled off rather than cut.
Resorption of Vicryl is by hydrolysis and this causes only minimal tissue reaction.
Coloured - residual tensile strength: 7 days: 60% - 14 days: 30%
Colourless - residual tensile strength: 7 days: 50% - 14 days: 20%
Ultimate Absorption of the Monocryl Suture is almost complete between 91 and 119 days.
