Ethilon is a surgical monofilament nylon suture (Polyamide 6)

Ethilon suture passes smoothly through the tissue and provides a secure knot.
Ethilon sutures are generally available in blue or black to improve visibility within the tissue. They can also be purchased in an uncoloured version.
Black Ethilon is suitable for use in closing the skin.

The thinnest Ethilon suture is attached to a needle for applications in, for example, eye surgery, microsurgery and plastic surgery.
The thicker suture is attached to a needle and is used for closing the skin, amongst other things.
