Cutimed Sorbact gel - Bacteria-binding dressing impregnated with hydrogel

This bacteria-binding pad creates a moist wound environment and thus also supports autolytic debridement. Cutimed Sorbact is applied directly to the wound.

Properties and functions
Due to its purely natural mechanism of action, Cutimed Sorbact binds and removes bacteria and fungi without the release of antibacterial-active substances. Efficacy is based on hydrophobic interaction. Cutimed Sorbact has strong hydrophobic (water-repellent) properties. Bacteria and fungi also have hydrophobic properties and are therefore irreversibly bound to the wound dressing. Material Cutimed Sorbact gel dressing:
This dressing consists of a green Sorbact wound contact layer with a water-based gel containing carbomer and propylene glycol (10%).

Device description
The gel dressing is a bacteria- and fungus-binding wound dressing. Cutimed Sorbact gel dressing brings moisture, enables moist wound environment and facilitates autolytic debridement.

Mode of action
Cutimed Sorbact binds micro-organisms, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans. These micro-organisms are removed at each dressing change.

Instructions for use
Moisten or soak the dressing to make removal easier and prevent disruption of wound healing when the dressing adheres to the wound. Do not use Cutimed Sorbact gel dressing on wound edges to prevent maceration of the surrounding skin. Cutimed Sorbact gel dressing is for single use only and should not be reused. Reuse may lead to an increased risk of infection and cross-contamination. Do not re-sterilise.
